Hi everyone I am new to laser forums, but this looks like a good site (and most popular) so i joined. I want to make a handheld 1w violet laser out of a minimag/any other flashlights you reccomend but i don't know where to get the parts. Eg: I saw clicky switch mods and i especially can't find the heatsink for a maglite (preferably one that can fit a typical axis module). Can you guys post where i can get the supplies? Thanks for your help!

Lastly I would like to say hi to the new community! :)

Welcome to LPF!
Be sure to read the rules and stickies.

I don't think you are going to be able to build a 1 w violet (405nm) laser, since it hasn't been done yet. But you can build a blue (445nm) laser. If you do do not forget laser safety glasses.

Yep for 405 about 700-800mW is the best you could expect. But they do have very nice beam profiles. You could go with 445 and get 1W+ and they are many times more visible than the 405's but being a multimode diode they beam profile is not as great.

You can get kits from several members here. Check out these guys.

That's a funny coincidence I'll be sure to keep that in mind. I'm also looking at kits and such right now.
