Hey, so I'm building my first handheld laser soon. I ordered an Oclaro 700mW 638 Diode from DTR, I plan on doing this build in an Altoids tin, and I had a few questions. First off, will I need a heatsink? Second, what voltage battery would be best for this? Thank you all in advance, you guys have been so helpful to me while I'm working on this project!

That's alot of mW's for a Altiods tin build.. Your going to need probably at least 25mm width of heatsink for any type of run time..

ISC, you should also look at Lifetime17's +3 in his picture signature as he can put that sink in any color host;)
I do love the Darth Vadar look though.

Thanks guys! I'm going to get a real host, I was questioning whether 700mw was too powerful for an Altoids tin. I probably should have thought that through better!
