Hey everyone. I'm a bit new to lasers and extremely new to the world of building. I just received all the pieces I ordered in the mail and I'm having some troubles with the heatsink and the laser module. The module is a standard 12x60 and the host says that's what it fits (the heatsink came with the host). However when I put the module into the heatsink which is just a metal ring, it is a pretty loose fit. I was just wondering what I should do as this is my first build and I don't want to mess it up.

The heatsink should have a setscrew to lock down the module. If there aren't a setscrew you have to use thermal epoxy of glue. The module and the sink must be securely connected or the heat will build up in the module and can kill the diode.

That doesn't matter. The module will distribute the heat evenly. It need to have a firm contact with the heatsink.
