Have DT0811, can't figure out how to remove final casing

Hi,

I would really appreciate some help here.

I have a few DT0811's I got from ebay.

I removed the large outer heatsink from the 3-pin diode but it still leaves a smaller more rounded enclosure to remove before it will fit in the Aixiz which I can't figure out how to get past.

Please help.

Cheers
Richard

Pictures would help, does it look like this one?

If it does the information is right here:

Try to search for it before you ask with the Google search bar on top next time :)

I get this one and other pain in the.... diodes out by gripping the heat sink with sturdy wire cutters. So that the cutters bite into the sides of the heat sink. I hold on firmly and carefully. Then I cut thru it with a Dremel Tool cutoff wheel. On both side down almost to the diode case. Then pop it apart with two needle nose pliers. The danger is that you don't hold the pliers good enough and fling the thing across the room, gouging the diode window at the same time. Or don't hold the Dremel good and walk the cutoff wheel across the diode window.
Others use a fine tooth hand saw like a jewelers saw or mini hack. Or ......a small file :)

Don't worry about it, It happens sometimes! :)

Good luck with the extraction!

Thanks all,

OK I got the diode out and desoldered, it still appears to be working, on to the next problem...

I searched the forum for answers and ended up more confused.

I have purchased ebay # 150878659741 a "LED Voltage and current display LM2596 DC-DC Step Down CC-CV Adjust Power Supply" and I can get the LD to put out a beam (and get hot) but the beam is rubbish (I think).

The problem is I have no clue how to configure the CC-CV properly...

I think this LD is around 80mw right, so the CC lets me use amps to two decimal points and volts to one decimal point.

Can somebody please help.

They talk about the cc cv here:

http://laserpointerforums.com/f60/cheap-neat-adjustable-cc-cv-dc-dc-driver-module-75545.html

The cc cv "turn the lamp current" and "limit switch adjustment" are confusing also.

Maybe this cc cv board is no use for only 80mw as I can only go as low as 0.01 amps?

Cheers
Richard
