Hey guys, don't expect me to be much physics help, I can put stuff together if I'm told where it goes.

Although with computers I'm fine, built my rig right here and it's epic.

Anyway, been interested in lasers since Star Wars came out, want to build my own laser now (Which lasts longer than those stupid little £1.99 laser pens you get here) and actually reaches a distance of more than 10 feet!

The only problem is, being all the way up in Scotland, I've no idea WHERE to get parts.

I quite like the idea of using an Xbox 360 HD DVD drive's diode.. Seeing as they're practically useless now.  ;D

Hello and welcome to the forum! I'm actually selling a couple of my blu-ray builds, you can click the violet link in my sig, I also have a list of the parts I use and where to get them on my first post. Check out the stickies on the buy/sell/trade and tutorials boards. Read up some, I'm sure you'll find ALL the info you need. It's pretty much a choice of preferences you'll find, so feel free to ask any questions!

Ahhh! Scone! I used to go there all the time!
 
I go down to fife about once a month to see family as i was born in fife and moved to Scone.

Only place you will get any laser making gear in Scotland is maplins. Atleast thats the only one I can think of !

Is anyone from Glasgow, other than heady ? No ? We should get a Scottish laser Gang together ;D

never mind ::) Looks like I'll be alone here in Glasgow for the most part !

And Dave, next time I'm on holiday up north I'll bring you back some pictures ;) ;D
