Greetings from Afghanistan

Hello everyone...

So I'm stuck here(stationed) in AFG and I've been lurking the pages of LPF for a few months now, right before i purchased my first laser (532nm 300mV ). (I've definitely become an overnight "safety advocate" when it comes to safety glasses, this thing is no joke):eg:

I cant tell you how much I've learned from reading around on this forum!
I've been secretly fascinated with lasers ever since i saw the movie Real Genius (1985). I'm going to build one of those lasers, one of these days

I'm definitely going to be making this my new hobby I want to start building low power Pointers soon.
I have a pretty good handle on the basics of physics and electronics, but I'm sure I'm going to need some advice, and hopefully you guys can give me a hand

I'm a noob but i learn fast... I'll see you all around

Damn.... i was lucky enough to only have to spend a month in 29 Palms... i think its better out here in AFG lol, Kudos to you man.

Yeah I've actually been having a hard time finding a question in my head that a thread COULDN'T answer lol.

And I've already hit up the Stickies and Rules, ill do my best to abide by them.

the one thing holding me back out here is the extremely strict Gov filter on the computers here... i cant pull up ANY videos or "file sharing" sites... makes DIY research rather hard, i also cant share any pics from an outside device :thinking:
