Greenie build...not so satisfied..

hey everyone, i recently found an awesome host at home depot, it has everything ready for a laser build, the wires are even sitting right there for you to connect them this host would be really great for a diode build...but not a green. ha. it didnt work out AT ALL. the module's wayyyy too long. it works just fine, but need modification to even stay in. it just looks terrible. heres some pics and beamshots. module inside is an o-like 50mW green, it was out of focus when i got it, but its easy to stick a toothpick in there and adjust it. red laser used is a rayfoss 200mW

ah well. i guess a bad build happens to everyone sometime=p tell me what you think! any advice?

All I can tell you is to plan your build better next time. Looking at the host/module/driver sizes is about the first thing you should have looked at

I agree. Bad move on my part, haha. But! I'll learn from my mistakes, and build a greenie again, eventually, with better planning. Thanks for the advice!

Whatever it is that you found, does not look like it was meant to throw out some photons, though I could be wrong.

Also, see some pen hosts from Jayrob (second time today I am advertising him, I need to get payed for this :crackup: ), they are for installation of O-like modules in them, get the chrome one, and it will be great for such build, 2x AAA, or even one 10440 with spacer.

Bad looking laser is what makes the dissatisfaction factor in your case

Thanks for setting me straight, haha=p and I've really thought about buying one of jayrobs kits, I will eventually. I like them alot. And you're very right about the bad looking laser being my dissatisfaction but I'll build a good one eventually. I have to start somewhere

I reccomended the chrome pen host ($14 shipped) because it's a bit longer than black one and will nicely house your laser. I worked with black obe from Jay, it's the highest quality pen host available, blows newwish out of the universe.

Oh wow. That is a nice host. Personally, i think new wish hosts are UGLY. That one actually looks very nice thanks for the suggestion! Haha I'll be taking apart this monstrosity to transfer it to the pen when I order

Let us all know how it goes (remember, you order chrome one, because they have someextra lenght needed for O-like modules).
