Hey all.
Something weird happened some days ago.
I got a blown A140/M140 (don't know) and direct-drove it with a 3000mAh Li-ion battery...
WITHOUT A MODULE. Just the bare diode.
It was COD'd anyways. So I just saw that round, weak, blue emission.
Thats fine.
After some time the diode started to smoke, but still on (tough, uh?)
and I saw the colors shifting to what I though to be around 500/510nm (green).
A friend of mine (registered here, but lurker) was beside me and saw it too.
We were amazed btw...
BUT after we turned off the diode and turned it back on, the blue emission was back, except for a small line (one of the multimode fringes) that were still green.
The diode fully died on the second run...
I don't think I know what happened there..
I was thinking if one could heat the diode (not by driving it >2A, that would damage the facets and mirrors inside) to shift its color beyond it would... or cool it?
I know the wavelengths shift. I just didn't know if this effect could be permanent.
Seems like I'll need to build a spectrometer. Already have something in my head...
Thanks for reading. :thanks:
