Jesusita fire, just a a couple miles away. I can see the flames very clearly from my office. It had calmed down, and people were getting optimistic about it, but winds seemed to have picked up and it looks to me like it's growing again.

This is the 3rd wildfire in less than a year that has been within a few miles of me, all of them the flames were visible from my apartment and office. This one is a little father than the first (the Gap fire), but closer than the last (the Tea fire). This is getting old real quick.

I'm sure some of you other Californians are much more used to the occasional fires, but 3 in less than a year, all within sight of my place, seems a bit excessive.

And I don't like California's natural disasters. In North Carolina, we had hurricanes. But hurricanes you can see coming. On TV they come on and say "hey, there might be a hurricane here in a week", and let you know as it gets closer, and you can move out of the way. And even then, it's wind and rain. But no, out here you have earthquakes which happen with ZERO notice at all, and fires which can start at any time, and may move fast or slow, towards or away from you, but may very well give you ZERO advance notice, may block you from being able to actually leave, and will shut down the power for the whole city even if fire isn't that close to you. Any way that I can trade these natural disasters for my old one, but keep California's weather?

it seems like you guys have a wildfire problem... is it just me or has this been happening since ever?
i remember the week after the governator got in office there was a massive fire...
the good news is maybe if you live to the east of the fault line, you will have a beach front property soon!

Yeah, it's wildfire country. Wildfires just happen in the western US, that's just how it is, and I can accept that. But 3 in one freakin year?!? All 3 of them being in a little strip of land that's maybe 10 miles long and 5 miles wide? Really, this city is only 10 miles wide, and is jammed into the 5 or fewer miles between the mountains and the beach, and there've been 3 fires in this little itty bitty area in the last year.

And I'm already on the beach front, so I'm just fine with that part as-is, the fault can stay put where it is forever as far as I'm concerned.
