Good tool to press fit diodes in Aixiz modules

Ever since I started reading posts on this forum, I've seen advice on how to press diodes into Aixiz modules. The diode must be recessed slightly in the housing. This is impossible to accomplish when using the back of the module to press the diode. Many people have developed their own methods of doing this, but most seem a bit reluctant to divulge their secrets. Not me...

Here's what I use to press diodes:

They can be found in any hardware store, and are used to connect air hoses to pneumatic devices like air compressors/tools etc. The 1/4" fittings work great. The end of the fitting that touches the diode is just a hair smaller in diameter than a 5.6mm diode, so it will recess the diode in the module as it should be.. They are also sturdy, and stand up well to the forces involved in pressing.

Thanks for your 5.5mm LD pressing trick info....

I know for a fact that certain member here have invested time and money to come up
with a viable and usable 5.6mm Pressing Tool... Some even need to assemble/build it...
and as such it becomes intellectual property... and if they don't want to share their idea outright...
it is quite understandable...
On the other hand if someone finds a use for an existing item... then there is no Intellectual
property... and can be shared easily (without finacial loss) like you did with the Air Hose Fitting
and I did with the Antenna sections uses posted elsewhere....  8-)

I simply use a short piece of 5mm diameter metal tubing. The pins of the diode go inside (like normal) and it is then sqeezed between the jaws of my bench vice.

To get the diode out, I use the same peice of tubing but used on the other end so the jaws of the vice push it out.
 
Thanks, Lasersbee. Your explanation of why these methods are kept secret by their creators makes perfect sense. Of course I'm not trying to step on anyone's intellectual property or product, I just thought there should be a thread that states some common parts that one could use to accomplish the task. This should prove helpful to DIYers who may not know of a good method..

I agree... it would be helpful to have all the suggestions maybe in a
Laser Assembly Tools Thread or maybe a Laser Tools Section... ::)
