Hi

So I need some new goggles.
My BluBlockers are shit.

I don't mind paying $40 if its necessary, but if I can get the same protection with cheaper glasses then why pay more.
 





Im confused. I just had a look at your previous posts and you have commented on the importance of goggles and even recommended eagle pair more than once...?

Surely you have seen the "Get some Goggles now!" thread too, as that was posted several times next to your posts? So you must have seen the Uvex ones mentioned as well as the blue blockers - which werent effective anyway...:thinking:

Basically what Im saying is you have been involved with several threads where goggles and even cheap goggles have been suggested, so why open a new thread asking effectively the same question? :whistle:

Know what, you are right.
I have tried cheapy goggles and they look like the one in the link, and I couldn't enjoy my laser, my head hurt once I look at the dot.

Oh I bet they are OD 5-6, but extremely hard to see out of. I have (sorry, had) similar goggles and while they can protect you very well against green, and to an extent blue, they SUCK as far as seeing anything else.

Get the Eagle Pair, or better, an ARG filter pair of goggles (they cost 2x as much, but they're very good) so at least you can SEE what you're doing (they're orange filter, not red) besides some soupy red mess that would make you go insane if you wore it too much.

Do you think they really are? I mean in the all previous threads I mentioned above, it was pointed out that there was no OD rating for their glasses...now Lazerer has them rated as OD 5 - 6 on their site? If this were true, the glasses should be much more effective at protecting against "blue"!;) If they actually have an OD of 5 -6, and especially at 532, (which would make them better than the Eagles) I would be very suprised! :)

Anyway unless they publish an OD vs Wavelength graph for their glasses, Id take it with a grain of salt...:beer:

If they're the same red laser enhancement goggles that have been sold for years, I wouldn't be surprised if they're OD 7 or more for green. If I can find them in my house again (I spray-painted one pair) I'll try and run some tests, but a subjective comparison with the same laser (from my recollection) a dot from the same green laser looks about the same, or dimmer than what passes through an ARG pair of goggles, which are OD7+.

I also wouldn't call them "better" than the Eagles even if they have higher protection. You can have those solid metal goggles OEM sells. That's like OD infinity until they start melting. Good luck seeing anything with those though.

What makes a better pair of goggles for me is a combination of protection and VLT. It should protect you enough to be safe and allow you to work with the laser comfortably. Too much protection may affect your work too, especially if you want to see where the dot is or if your laser is on.

To be honest the goggles shown on their site are not very dark at all, so their VLT should be relatively high and probably on par with the EP3's at 50%. The eagle pairs have an OD of ~4.5 at 445 and just under 4 at 532. My "better" comment was wrt green, not the entire visible spectrum! ;)

If you do get around to checking them, I be very interested to know how they rate. :beer:

Edit: Just checked on their site and the VLT is quoted as being >55%...

I have two sets of Eagle Pair that cover a broad spectrum. They're excellent but Watch out for the fOr fakes. Look at SurvivAl lasers for the real thing.
 
Yup, a pair of "eagle pair" broad spectrum will more then do the trick. At 450nm they are about OD5. I got a direct hit in my left eye with 2.3W @ 450nm from less then 50cm and they worked really well. Was using the EP-1 (broad spectrum) ones. Can read about it here. direct hit in my left eye with 2.3W Like CDRGlock said there are fakes out there. Survival lasers and Zonestealth sell the real ones.

Are zonestealth & zone2stealth the same person?
I need 2 safety goggles, I can only bid individually through zonestealth but
for zone2stealth, I can make an offer for both, saving me trouble of waiting for 2 shipments.

Wow that zone2stealth looks a lot like zonestealth. Prolly the same company (Chinese) behind them both. Since I have not ordered them from zone2stealth I can say yes for sure though.

The ones you see in the picture in my post are the multiple wavelength (EP-1) from the URL above. Don't know why they removed the stamp on the left lens in their photos but mine say 190-540 & 800-2000 OD4+ CE as you can see in my photos. You wont be able to see the beam of a 3 watt 445nm with these on. You can clearly see the dot though. Unless you have a 100mW+ 532nm you really will have to look hard to see the dot at all. These are real “Eagle Pair” I got nailed in the left eye good and proper as I said above and they saved my ass. Survival Laser sells the exact same pair of goggles. Took about a week to get to Sweden from ZoneStealth with the $2 USD shipping/tracking.
 
Glad that you're fine after the incident.
It was after reading what happened to others that prompted me to prioritize safety before convenience / cost.
I've given it a try and ordered 2 pairs of the safety glasses.
 
What I just understand is, that the cheap goggles might be sometimes OD4-6, but sometimes its not.

I just got my self an Eagle Pair, will update the thread with my impressions when I receive it.
