Hello all.
I am starting my first build after one failed attempt. I have gathered a diode out of a 16x dvd burner and a power source.
To construct a successful burning laser, can I get away with simply mounting it in a red module with a amc7135 driver and hooking it up to the power source?

I believe the amc7135 circuit is used mainly for driving led torches, had a 350ma constant sink current and can take up to 6v supply, now Im not to sure about if the output is constant at 3v which is what you need for the diode.
Try it but be prepared to kill the laser. Best to get a proper driver for lasers.
Welcome to the forum

Thanks for your reply.
I had read up on this driver on the forum and elsewhere that's why I was asking. Most of what I researched recommended this driver. I found on the site from which to purchase it, that it was for an LED, not laser and that's why I broke down and posted. Has anyone used this driver on a burning red? Any other recommendations aside from this driver?

I have this driver Adjustable laser diode driver circuit(assembled)Red or Blu-ray! [M0003] - $16.99 : Modwerx Shop
It burns fine on a lpc-815 you just need above 5.5 v I believe to drive it.
There are other driver options available just look on the drivers section on this site...
You also need a test load to set up the milli amps for the diode before hooking up the diode to the driver you can make your own... of buy ready made
Laser driver dummy load (test red or blu-ray) [M0001] - $10.99 : Modwerx Shop

Hey Ravenit! , nice to see your willing to help people create their very first laser!

i hope you have a good day :)

+1 rep for you :D

Thanks LaZeRz, its people like you who helped me get started so Its good to pass on the knowledge, keeps the experts answering, say just the more technical questions which I'm sure to have in the future.

I also want to contribute to the community just not a fly by niter...... (I want a burning laser).... :o
