Fantastic news for everyone!

This guide will tell you how to get free internet by connecting your cell phone to your computer :D

No wireless card needed!




Requirements:

1. Windows 98/2000/XP

2. USB cable

3. RAZR cell phone!! you must have one!

4. USB port (duh)






OK, to start off, let me direct you to the drivers:

Go there and get the drivers for the RAZR.  Remember where you save the file!



Plug your RAZR in and your computer will say " found new hardware".  Unzip the folder with the drivers and locate the folder for the new hardware wizard.  After choosing the folder, wait for it to install.



Then register here:
http://www.freedialup.org/site/

Remeber your password cause you will need it to establish the connection.




once you have registered, go here and pick a number:

Find a number nearest your state for the best connection.



Go into your control panel and choose network connections.  Then click create a new connection.



after doing so, go through the setup and choose dial-up and then put in a number from freedialup.org.




once you have finished turn on your phone.  go to network places and right-click on your phone listed under dial-up connections.  Enable this connection and put in your username and password from your registration.

and YOUR CONNECTED!!!


kinda slow, but it works anywhere that you have cell phone reception ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D


this is free, but you use air-time (cell phone minutes) to use it.

I have been doing that for over two years... ;D This can be done with most cell phones that have Internet access, it does not have to be a Razor. I use my bluetooth to connect.

I only do it when my Internet goes down or during storms because I unplug everything. Lightening took out my stuff once and I hope it never happens again.. :'(

I'm on my sprint treo ( cellphone/pda) right now. It's mobile broadband. I can pull 1.5 megabit here in my house right out of the sky.

That is better than I was able to do with Verizon. Unfortunately where I am living now they don't have broadband access. It is about 112kbs at best. I have a VX6600 and I do love it.

ya i have a 1.5mbit connection, but it doesn't seem like that speed, and when i tested it, it only came out 256kb/s >:(

I used something like that for a while, but my carrier no longer supports CSD (Circuit Switched Data) so now I have to pay them if I want to have mobile access. Might want to check with your carrier first.

I've tried this before, it doesn't work, I can dial the number on my phone, and I hear the network, but when I try to use it as a "modem", it just says failed :-/

That's exactly what mine does now if I try to use it as a modem, unless it's talking to my cell carrier's data service.

You want cheep, slow, internet?

www.boostmobile.com

a little over $10 a month, unlimited access, plug in a data-cable, install the modem drivers, and dsial S=2 voila! 14.4kbps internet! You can also use the boost sim in an iden blackbetty (i7510 and i7520) and get unlimited data on the device! (must use opera mini to get web access, no push email))

Personally I pay $30 a month for Sprint and get 400kbps average, as high as 1.1 spikes. I even use it at home sometimes bc it uses less power than my WiFi does! (and for browsing forums and IM-ing, you dont NEED a 1.5mbps connection) I use a Samsung a900 with modem nai turned off and I can tether to any BT device for data now WO the 14.99 a month PAM charge! I can also roam onto the verizon EVDO networks when I'm in a verizon area, though @ 100-300kbps... elsewhere I *sometimes* get 14.4kbps, and sometimes I get an error that data-roaming is not avalible...?

Works for me though, 'round here I get upto 6 bars of reception, so...

hmm well this is a good deal for people with internet capable phones!
but over time this section will fill up with deals, it just takes some time to find them all!

I can sign up for any ISP and connect with an Internet capable cell phone if the service provider allows it. I used to do it with Cingular and Nokia phones, but I don't know if they even allow it any more. My point is that even while the idea is a good one, it is NOT a good deal.

Yeah you might as well pay for the high speed. Although for emergency situations this does come on handy.
