GB diode in the mail.. TestFIRE

Received a nice package from Senkat today... here are some pics and videos for those interested.

First off, dot brightness comparison between the GB diode and the stock DX 5mW laser - i used the same case & lens for the GB diode.

Did i mention fire? Lets sharpie a match and see how that pans out...

Both shots where done by focussing the module on the match while running just above treshold (50 mA or so). To light the match, current was cracked up to 160 mA for a few seconds.

This is just a quickly assembled module running off a controllable current source, no heatsinking besides the module i mounted the diode in... so it does get warm with continuous operation.

Yup..very nice... Putting it at 160mw's make a big difference and it burns great.

Tnx... i think it will be more fun to play with once i get decent heatsinking on the laser. As for the actual power i have no measurement, but at 160 mA it should put out a good 100 mW or so.
