Fun ways to get rid of old electronics

This is a thread for all the people who enjoy blasting old CRT's in the desert, melting computers with thermite and general electronic destruction.
I'll start with some simple vids showing what happens when resistors are hooked up to a MOT putting out 1000V and around 1 amp.

HV is always fun lol. I decided to take the secondary off my MOT, but accidently hit the primary winding. I may try fix it one day, but otherwise its just a big paperweight ...

IMO the nice thing about HV is that it doesn't cost a lot to get into. I found my 3kv NST at a yard sale for $5. Apparently the guy broke the tube and had no use for the transformer. I didn't pay anything for the rest of my HV stuff. I got the MOT from a broken microwave that had been sitting in the garage for 10 years and I got my 30kv flyback from a huge old tv that someone had left by the curb to be picked up. I also found 4 old crt monitors during that week including a 19 inch monitor in near perfect condition that I now use with my computer. The 3 non working monitors got ripped for parts. Sadly they all have a rectifier built into the flyback which makes them worthless for a lot of things.

DC flybacks are good for ion lifter projects and capacitor charging, so they can work for a tesla coil. I got my NST from a local neon sign shop for free, its rated @ 15KV 30ma, and its fun to play with. I also got my MOT from my microwave, which wasnt dead, but was filled with water!!

Ive had a few flybacks before, one that was even pulling like 8cm arcs, but as you can tell, that one died pretty quick
