Good news Steve. Yeah, the only reason that it wouldn't fit perfectly, is if there may be some slight differences in the MXDL batches or something. Good idea with just a little thermal compound. Thanks for the compliment on the instruction sheet! Here's a link to the .doc file if anybody wants to take a look at some install details and notes on fitting the DDL driver:

Like I said, I already killed a diode from heat. Running a little over 300mA, left on a little too long and the little hair wires connecting to the actual chip melted off the chip.
