I want to build a 2 watt 808nm laser with an adjustable focus using an Aixiz module drilled larger to accept a larger 2 watt I.R. diode (9mm). I have seen on here that I.R. pointers have bad divergance...if I use a glass focusing lens would it pop a balloon at the same distance as a 650 nm red laser that's 200mw but be stronger because it has more power? I realize the emmitter size has alot to do with it.

High power diodes are always multimode.
Focusing to high distance will be difficult.

You need two prisms to get symmetric beam.

Let me know if you succeed with aixiz mode.
I'm also interested in drilling aixiz module but don't know which drill to buy.
