I've done that. After a few big boy shots of 151 trying to use the green-orange-green to tcp/ip encapsulation analogy is quite entertaining. Unlike the propellerhead geeks I'm a sailor and can drink like a fish! :p

Last thanksgiving I hit a bottle of turkey gravy with about 40W (yes watts) and it sounded like popcorn inside.

On a smaller scale dark coloured nail polish will crackle (aiming at the bottle hehe) with as little as 100mw focused down small. Don't get too carried away though...it IS nail polish! ;D

Yes indeed it is. It's also not that easy for human peeps to see.

Dogs OTOH, can see it well. I have a jack russell that is absolutely insane when it comes to chasing lasers. He will chase the dot to the end of the yard. I cannot even see it but there he is barking fanatically at it! It looks like I have him on a remote control. ;D
