Can someone with a lot of practical knowledge in IR lasers tell me if a DVD laser can have a possible output of 350mw, as being sold on ebay: 110993378695 ?

Thanks for your help

He's got something backwards for sure. Discrepancies:

350mW out for 300mA in is too high.
DVD drives do not use 830nm diodes.
working life of 1000 hours is abysmally low if a diode is run properly.

Judging by the price, my best guess is they're <100mW 780nm diodes.

DAMN.... I will contact him and let him know they are likely not what he specifies them as. I bought two big bags of them, will try to get a refund if he didn't specify them correctly. Thanks.

They swear they are 830nm, that they had to change them out on hundreds of devices because were built with the wrong diode. I don't trust Chinese ebay sellers very much, have been burned by one in the past but they are on the way, will see later.

I've bought from that seller before. I've always been
satisfied.

You are aware that you are buying pulled LDs at ~$1.90 ea.
BTW.. Why do you need 830nm LDs...

Should be one dollar each, I can't tell anyone what the project is, not allowed but it will be something very unusual one done.

He had offered 100 pc lots earlier for 99 dollars, sorry, I should have mentioned that was the one I bought.

I've got a spectrometer. If you like, you can mail one to me and I'll check the wavelength.

Got them today, PM me with an address. They are individual diodes, uber small. They say Sony SLD083S35

Thanks

Chris
