Hey fellow laser fanatics,
I think I'm finally going to get around to building the laser I've wanted for so long! I've picked out a module that I think would be sufficient.

This is the module I'm looking to get.
200mW 532nm Green Laser Module (3V 11.9mm) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

I have a few questions though...
1.) I believe the diode comes with the module, correct? hah such a noobish question

2.) I dont want that IR stuff ruining my eyes so would I just attach an IR filter to the end of the laser module? or is it more difficult than that?

3.) lastly.. do you think the laser is actually 200mw? or is that total bs and I'm going to waste my money?

Thanks for the advice!
Colton

-The diode is in the module, I'm guessing an 808nm (dpss)
-The price on the module isn't bad. 200mW does seem like a stretch but you could get it. I'm not sure if it's ir filtered, Maybe someone else can direct you to where there is an ir filter for sale.
Pick up a host and a heatsink and you got a nice little project.
Best of luck!

Well you do have a lot of variables here. Honestly I don't think it's near 200mW, it's hard to say without putting it on an LPM.
Your next stop maybe Survival Laser USA Home. You should be able to get the rest of your parts there.
You'll need to supply it's input voltage3v. 2x AAs.
