Re: First build: Ordered Parts

good luck and remember to discharge your capacitors before hooking you diode up.

Re: First build: Ordered Parts

Short both pads of the driver (where you connect the diode) with a piece of wire.

Re: First build: Ordered Parts

Oh okay. Thank you. I would not have done that otherwise. That might not have been good. :)

Re: First build: Ordered Parts

But don't forget to disconnect the battery first.
Else you will kill the driver...

Re: First build: Ordered Parts

Okay. So basically do that before I do anything with the driver?

Re: First build: Ordered Parts

and before you hook the dide up, and before you take the dide off, if you ever need to for some reason.
:)

Re: First build: Ordered Parts

Set the driver with the dummy load, disconnect the battery and dummy load, short out the caps, attach diode, have fun with your laser (after placing it in a heatsink).

Re: First build: Ordered Parts

Oh you are you getting that driver preset?

Because you need what's called a dummy load to set the current on your driver. You also need a multimeter.

By what I remember, Rkcstr sells some.

Re: First build: Ordered Parts

Yeah the driver is preset to 110mA based on Prototype's suggestion for the PHR-803T

Re: First build: Ordered Parts

Okay. I'll have to look when I get it, but the flexdrive fits into the host flat. Do I just connect it with a wire then?

Re: First build: Ordered Parts

Yes, solder to wires to diode, and after shorting the caps, connect those to the driver.
