Finding a Balance between "Fun" and "Safety".

What is safe about 300mW green ? Sure, 3W 445nm is more dangerous at close ranges, but greens usually have a lot better divergence, and can be more dangerous over distance.

I'm late :0 anyway anything over 5mw is DANGEROUS!!! It says in your sig that you ordered it and that's like putting weights in your pockets an jumping in the deep end. It's too late to save you. Please for the love of god wear goggles. And DON'T shine it outdoors! Your actions account for everyone else's. If you ever mess up bad enough it could hurt the rest of us.

Lmao. "Don't shine it outdoors"? Facepalm.

This thread wasn't meant for me to be asking what lasers are safe to use, that's obvious. This thread's purpose was to find the ideal balance between a laser that's fun, and won't burn buildings down and blow up planets.

For example, a 5mW is to safe for me, but a 3W is to dangerous for me. I guess really what I was asking for is something that doesn't burn flesh instantly if any gets between the beam, or burn holes in my wall, but is still fun to use. It wasn't meant to be a thread about if I need to wear goggles or not.

As for avoiding burning stuff unintentionally, stay with class IIIb (<500mW). My wall/door/everything is full of unintentional burns from my 3W laser.
