Oh, so you can just adjust the pot, cool.

Im deffinatly ganna make one soon, wanna help me when I do?

lol

Can I buy all the parts at RS?

Grrrrrrrrr....when you first came to this forum you said you did not want to do Daedal's circuit because it was too complicated and it would not fit in a maglite. Make up your mind. Yes, you can buy all the parts at radioshack but keep in mind you need a minimum of 6 volts to power the circuit....and no, a 9 volt battery will not work very well.

Well, I wanna learn more about circiuts.

First, Im making a "project box" type of thing, like you suggested.

Ill Test em out, and if I like lasers and can get diodes, Ill make a circuit.

Gazoo That is what I first had it hooked up to. A 9V battery. It was burning tape at 150 mA from the 9V. But you are correct the 9V will deplete very very fast.

Yeah, I think a couple of CR123's would be best with a LDO regulator for portability. Using the same circuit of course.

Kaspar, when you get to the point you are ready to build Daedal's circuit..we will help you.

Oh well, what's fast? You get 9V NiMH batteries with (true) capacities of 200 mAh or so these days. That makes a pretty compact power source that would last you over an hour. Not very good, but enouh to play around with it.

No it won't last over an hour.. :P It might last 10 minutes...remember the more current that is drawn from a battery the faster the battery will discharge. A 9 volt NIMH doesn't have enough capacity to hold up to a 1C discharge for an hour.
