That's why I'll be happy to wait for DrLava's results. Neat system he has there.
I toasted enough LD's for a while ;D

He...he..right on Mike. I did figure out DrLava's graph too with a little help from him. I was looking at it the wrong way :P

Is the color for the lasers different from the senkat diodes. I would guess they would be a bit brighter right? I would love to buy one or two but I would like to see the difference.

;)

check the feeler thread for info on these diodes, from what i gather they are a few nm less than senkat, making them brighter. they also have much higher mW output than a senkat diode. its liek comparing a fokker passernger airplane to a B2 bomber...

I am looking forward to having one but before any decisions I would like to see it in action (beam and chart comparison). That is unless slots are limited then let me know so I can buy.

Amk, I'm going to have to disagree with you, the senkat diodes aren't that different form the phazer diodes, the senkat diodes (the good ones, not the new ones from the bad batch) can also reach 200mW, sure they won't live as long as the phazer since the phazer is rated at 200mW cw, but they aren't that low from the phazer diodes.
Here's a chart Daedal made comparing the senkat diodes and the phazer diodes:

Daedal said there was not any difference in the color, read his review on these diodes in the reviews section. ;)

senakt didoes are already overdrien when outputting 150mW. 200mW would be if you are severely lucky, have good heatsinking, and know what you are doing. sucessfully ruining a GB senkat diode at 360ma is not something everyone can do.

these are more similar to the open can diodes.

also, the new batch of diodes senkat recieved are only rated at 80mW, as opposed to 200mW phazor. So therefore, it IS like comparing a fokker with a B2.

so basicaly:

Senkat diode (good batch): ~150mW
Phazor: +200mW, max ~350mW(with maximum heatsinking/cooling) (I havent had any up close experiences with these, hence the vauge guess)
Open can: up to 300mW with good heatsinking, ~200-250mW normal

AMK...Daedal never did reach 350ma's with the phaser. It died at 700ma's and was putting out 323mw's. My opinion is the open can diodes are much studier electrically and optically. I have no doubt DrLava's testing will confirm this. If I was to bet on one or the other, I know which one I would bet on.

However the phaser is a good deal for someone who doesn't want to harvest diodes. $30.00 for 200mw's is a very good deal.

Amk, sure they're overdriven when they're outputting 150mW, which is about 250mA, but most people get a good life out of them at that current. Of course the phazer diodes are better since they're rated at more than twice the mW than the senkat diodes, but it looks like you can't push them a lot over spec, the senkat diodes can be pushed twice over spec, but daedal said his phazer died when he pushed it to 323mW.
And the new senkat diode batch are rated at 100mW cw, but 180mW pulsed as oposed to 80mW cw and 250mW pulsed of the good batch.
Check out some of the responses after daedal posted the graph here:

the 80mW CW is the bad batch

my point was that comparing a phazor with a senkat diode is like comparing a fokker to a B2

I still do believe that hands down, the open can is the winner, esspecially with the new sony findings gazoo has gotten, with up to 400mW output on a TEC...

I'm not going to argue, and hell yeah the open can is the winner ;D
The bad batch is 100mW cw and 180 pulsed
The good batch is 80mW cw and 250 pulsed
Here are the data sheets:
Good batch:

Bad batch:

And sorry for jacking the GB thread Daedal, this is my last post regarding this subject. :)

lol sorry man, we did fill up a whole page of ur thread....

yea I see now, the bad is the 100mW CW.

but my opint is still un attacked, a senkat compared to a phazor, is like a fokker compared to a B2

and yes the open can is da winna

regards,

amk
