[quote author=SenKat link=1170183197/0#14 date=1170291487]Wouldn't it be great if someone invented an infinite diverger lense ?  You could burn at any distance then.....Mmmmmmmmmmm  Toasty !

I've tried with a telephoto lens but the beam seams to lose it's power along the way. The only way is to mod the pulsar like Tommygreen23 & Chargeman did...

Yea i would sure love to have a never ending power in my handS!!!

yes it would be, nice, but you still wouldnt be able to burn stuff from really far away, the power would start to diminish, right?

After seeing this thread I just bought a disposable and I'm gonna take it apart for the lense soon.

I don't know if this will help or anything but heres a small pic I found of some lenses

those are a bit expensive... but i wonder if they work well for lasers.

I have used optics online a few times (see SenKat's link)  I bought some 12.5 mm IR filters  (IRC21 and IRC30)  and just got some 6.3 mm plano-convex lenses today.

I modded my 50 mW from SNOCTONY on e-bay by removing the scratched lens and replacing the whole collomation unit with a couple of washers, springs and a planoconvex lens I took from a $5 red pointer.  It has a pinpoint beam up to 6" and then diverges at probably 3-5 degrees to give a 10-15 foot beam diameter at 100 yards.  (the beam is MUCH wider and more obvious at night!!!) I like it that way.
Just be careful which direction you place the lens in - flipping it around will have an "opposite" effect.

The laser smokes tape very quickly and maxes out my meter (over 70 mW) even with the aftermarket filter in place.   8-)

I am having camera trouble. I can get a picture of the beam and the spot and the pointer tonight, but small details fail my camera. I am looking for a good CHEAP camera for closeup shots so I can post stuff like this...

Basically I removed the collomating lenses, put a washer over the crystal (there is a little "ledge" inside the body about 5 mm above the crystal) atop that I placed a 1 cm spring and another washer then the lens and then the optics cap. I'll try switching out the lens with some of the new ones tonight and see which one I like best...

Here are a few pics of the laser I mentioned earlier. Also some of the inner workings. I have a video of burning matches but don't know how to upload it...

Can I post more than one picture at a time?
Here's the spot at 20 feet
