Last week i purchased a 5mW cheap greenie of eBay,
It came fine and is pretty bright and fun to mess around with

However ebay emailed me today saying this:
has been removed by eBay for breaching of one or more of our policies. Any offers or bids placed on this listing are now null and void. We advise you not to finalise this transaction with the seller. As stated in the eBay User Agreement, neither seller nor buyer should engage in transactions that breach the law or eBay policy.

Regards,

eBay Trust & Safety

I know most of you dont use ebay anyway for proper lasers but its probably a show of things to come in the UK

Lol i knew that but theres still thousands of listings on eBay that stay up there for ages

only pointers are banned right? we can still get lab modules?

btw, why aren't we allowed to buy FDA APPROVED lasers? that just sounds silly

Why? Because ebay is a private company and makes their own rules. If they decided that they wanted to change to company to "greenbay" and only sell things that are green like green cell phone covers and green t-shirts, then that's perfectly within their rights. ebay has whole classes of products that they don't allow, and they're just adding laser pointers to that list.

It's a private company, they can do that. Luckily, it's a free market, so you can go start up your own auction company, and if the market wants it, you'll succeed just like ebay has. But as long as people keep using ebay, all the people using it are condoning ebay's actions and policies.
