Hey guys

I was given a sled out of a DVD RW home theater system.. What is weird is that unlike the sleds we get out of computer burners this had a little glass cube and several larger mirrors... I pulled two diodes both look like 6 - 9 mm can diodes so I am assuming here that one is the 740-808 nm ir diode and one is going to be a 600-680 nm red diode.. Has any body pulled this sled before and if so what can you tell me about the nm-- also if red diode what dirver would you use thanks

Could you post some pictures it would help identify the diodes alot.
As for a driver you can use a simple lm317 driver for the diode.
If it's a dvd drive there will be one 808nm and one 650nm diode. Or perhaps there may be a combo red/ir diode, but as there are 2 diodes they are probably separate. I've never heard of a dvd rw theatre system, what does it do?
Does it capture and burn to DVD?
Hope I helped.
