I want to get my first green laser. I dont want IR rays flying everywhere and then get damage to my eyes, so i want to get a safe one. The main thing i want is for its beam to be very visible and for it to be bright. I would like to keep my price range under 40 dollars if i could, 20-30$ would be best

Which would you suggest?

Re: DX True 30  OR  WL CORE

I would suggest the DX after all the reading I have done here.

You could also try one of the romisen 30mW units, they've got good reviews

Re: DX True 30  OR  WL CORE

Ive seen many posts that say CORE is better and some that say DX 30 is better

JUST TALKING ABOUT BRIGHTNESS AND VISABLITIY OF THE BEAM
Should i get the CORE or the DX30

I would rather get the safer one, cause i dont want damage to eyes

unfortunately the core's beam is not very bright (really only visible outdoors at night) indoors it's very hard to see the beam without dust/smoke/fog

If I was buying a Green for minimal dollars, I would buy eyewear for the green / IR range. Sorry I just don't trust my eyes to discount or even well respected laser retailers.

Dont worry about IR. There's some misconception that IR is far more dangerous than green but its the other way around. The 30mW will be more visible - the 30mW will be more dangerous. More power goes hand in hand with more visibility and increased eye danger; there's just no getting around it.

To me, it comes down to the age old question of do you want quantity or quality. The DX will give you more mWs, but the core is gunna be a higher quality unit likelier to last a long time

Why is everyone so scared of a little bit of IR? I understand why >100mw or some other nightmarish amount of IR leakage is bad but what is ~30~ mw of IR going to do? It is going to immediately spread out from the laser and bounce off the walls and I don't see how the tiny amount of IR that actually makes it back to your eyes is a serious hazard? Unless you are pointing the laser at white walls 5 feet from your face the IR shouldn't be too much of a problem.

you should go with the romisen 30mW mini laser. its brighter than the DX True 30mW, and it takes a 3.6V battery. you should get that.

Those things work great. After over 30 minutes of use they are still almost as bright as they were with batteries fresh off the charger. My true 30 eats a set of alkaline AAAs in under 15 minutes and has serious dimming issues because the batteries can't keep up.

Re: DX True 30  OR  WL CORE

i'd go with the DX 30.

if u want a VERY bright beam for a good price, i recommend it.

seriously, i just didnt expect it to be so bright.
