DX SD-303 200mW Review

Try clicking on "New Posts" at the top of the page. Then read a few and see if you find one that's pertinent. Once you get a feel for the forums try using the search bar to find what you are looking for. If all else fails, post the question in your own thread. But, first I would open an introduction thread to tell us a little about yourself and where in the world you live.

I recently received one of the DX SDLaser 303 Green laser pointers. With my LED flashlight 18650 battery it is extremely bright, even with the star pattern attachment. With the attachment removed, it is brighter than anything I've seen at about 50 ft. Not so sure about using it outside. Out of curiosity I measured current consumption with a Fluke 87 DVM and got the following readings: 18650 voltage was 3.865 with 0.432 Amps of current draw. If you do the math, and figure 20-30% efficiency of the laser diode (I think it has a laser diode) you get 300-500 mW output. Not sure about the IR component. This is all new to me, so I'm interested to see what others see in these figures. I'm limiting on time as I figure there isn't much of a heatsink.

Stop necro-posting on threads dead for 3 years as has been mentioned.

Make a welcome post in the Welcome subforum telling something about yourself --- introduce yourself and include you location on the planet in your profile would be good ideas.

There is not way any laser 303 is 300-500mW ---you are lucky if it is between 50mW and 100mW -- green and IR leakage combined.

A DX SD303 is $4.22 including shipping, less than the cost of a good cup of coffee. You can't expect much for that---right?

If you want a high quality high output 532nm laser have a look here: https://www.jetlasers.org/

PS a 532nm laser is not a direct diode laser
