DX 30 mW green broke on me

Thanks diachi, but I know that. Otherwise I hadn´t been able to take out the module ;)
Did you try to screw open the tailcap at the end with the spring? I tried and it is nearly impossible.I gave up on mine, will buy a new pumpld soon and then revive it...

i got the DX romisen 30 mw, and he died also. The only advantage of this host is that we can have the entire module very easily, and that we can add a new diode easily (just to screw a ring, no press fit), try with a Stenkat diode (but you will need to open the can).
The drawbacks is that we can use this laser too long, coz the connection are very ... crap !
don't mess a lot with the pot also, mine send 800 mA to the diode which fried it ! lol...
check "experiment & modif" with my triple mxdl im using it :)

I tried opening it, but I don't have a vice to hold it with, so I gave up, and then read about how hard it was to unscrew anyway so I just left it .

Good luck with the Revivation ( If thats a word ) of your laser, mines needs a new driver to be revived, or atleast a new pot.

Could anybody tell anything about mine?
It barely ever works now, so i'm thinking some connection must be going bad or something.
I just check and no IR is being output, so it has to be something shorting somewhere or something.

It sounds like a bad connection, or a dodgy switch to me, try powering it up without putting the module in the case, just leave it in the heatsink. If it is the switch then it should work okay without it, if it still doesnt work then, then it's possible a bad connection or the driver. It could also be the little metal O Ring that's on the bottom of the module, mines doesn't work aswell without it.

how would i go about doing that?
take a wire from each end of the batt to the spring?

I may just return it and take store credit, graba host and some batteries for my first DIY or something...

Yup wire from the negative onto the spring and wire from the positive onto the brass module.

See this pic, i just want to be clear.

Nevermind, i just did exactly as you said and it worked.
Now I don't know if i shoudl try to find a new host for it or what.

Someone here might have a broken one they could send you so you could use it as a replacement host, or even just a replacement tail cap. Ask around ;)
