Not sure if this was a waste of time or money, but I was bored. Used 1N5402, was the only thing RatShack had enough of. I swear someone in town besides me is building lasers. Measured the voltage drop on these, was .75V @ 700mA. I had a tap on the board for 2 diodes as well, but could only find a 6 position rotary switch. Anyway thanks for looking, comments welcome.

Where is your 1 Ohm resistor to check the current that
your driver is adjusted to... :thinking:
After all.... that is really what a Test Load is for...

So your resistor looks like a wire wound type, wire wound resistors are inductive and should not be used with boost type drivers as it can kill the driver. the correct type of resistor to use is a thick film resistor.

As in it will kill the driver when setting the current?

I have a problem seeing an issue with that...

If the output of the Boost Driver is properly filtered DC (as it
should be).., I can't see any problem using a 1 Ohm wire wound
resistor... (for a 1 Ohm resistor to have many turns of wire...
the wire will need to have a huge diameter)

DC does not make a difference in the inductance of a coil...
unless the DC is being switched on and off.... which proper
Boost filtering should get rid of....
