Absolute insanity.

I'm all for proper medical treatment, but extend this logic, and what's next?

People getting cosmetic surgery to treat depression maybe, while in prison? Sounds nuts, but that's exactly what this is... optional cosmetic surgery.

Soon all the girls who don't have a lot of money will be purposely getting 1 month prison sentences for a free boob job

Anyone know of white collar crimes I can commit to end up in a federal white collar minimum security prison?

Maybe 3-6 months... enough time for plenty of exercise, a strict diet, and heck, might as well get some surgery done while I'm at it :p

Edit... Lipo, maybe some dental work. Just to be clear lol

Depression from being in prison?

With that sort of logic floating around we should be buying heart defibrillators for the men and women on death row.

Since when is prison not supposed to be depressing for a prisoner?

EDIT: Not attacking you. Just a funny thought I had!

Prison is supposed to be depressing IMO... it is punishment after all... at least I always thought that was the case

With this case, what bothers me a lot is the base rationale used for the ruling leaves a whole lot of wiggle room...

Wolf ruled that Kosilek was entitled to treatment for gender-identity disorder

Kosilek sued again in 2005, arguing that the surgery is a medical necessity.

In his ruling Tuesday, Wolf found that surgery is the "only adequate treatment" for Kosilek's "serious medical need."

So... if you want surgery... three step process.

1. End up in prison.
2. Prove that you have a disorder.
3. Prove that the disorder can only be adequately treated by surgery.

Since clinical depression is a recognized disorder, and if the cause of the depression is poor body image, that cannot be remedied via lifestyle change... free surgery.

:wtf: were the judge, and opposing lawyers thinking...

This opens up a whole other can of worms. Specifically whether by law, gender is based solely on anatomy. If s/he gets the surgery... does that mean a transfer to a women's prison?

I hear it's easy to change banking software rounding routines to drop off fractions of a cent into your personal account.....So long as you are good with decimal points.

LOL! Maybe he is getting tired of being pounded in the butt at the federal pound me in the butt prison.

It seems like the good citizens keep getting boned harder and harder while prisoners, Capitol Hill employees and a few others are living the good life.
