Hi there,

I'd like to buy Dragon Lasers Spartan,

Which one would have the best beam quality?

I would prefer CR123A instead of 18650, anyone has 405 nm Spartan?

Is the 0.5 mRAD real?

I've got Opto RPL 450 before, but it was too big as EDC,

Thanks,

Luke

Hi Luke.
I can't say how good their 405nm Spartans are but they would be single mode, so should have very good beam specs just like other 405's do.
As for the divergence, DL are usually pretty good at specs. So wouldn't imagine they would be far of actual.
I have a 589nm Spartan and Aurora myself.

Because the Vf of 405nm laser diodes is so high, it is better to use a boost driver with a single Li-ion battery than a buck driver with two smaller Li batteries. There are some newer multi mode 405nm diodes available, so you might want to make certain the laser you buy has one of the two single mode diodes that have high output powers. The S09J and the BDR-209 can be safely driven to 700 mW or 900+ mW respectively. For higher powers, you will need a multi mode diode.
