Today GoDaddy was hit by an attack which impacted millions of sites including LPF, Every GoDaddy-registered site temporarily knocked offline | Fox News
The LPF server itself was not touched (the hosting is with http://firehost.com); it was a DNS issue w/ GoDaddy so basically laserpointerforums.com couldn't be translated to the IP address 199.168.172.102. LPF is registered with GoDaddy so use them for DNS.
If you statically map the LPF IP address to laserpointerforums.com in your hosts file, DNS lookups are skipped, and hence this type of issue can't happen. But if LPF switches IPs you would need to update your hosts files. I don't foresee the IP changing anytime soon.
I have used GoDaddy for many years and never saw such an issue. Hopefully doesn't happen again.
Best Regards,
