Homemade T.E.A. Lasers.

I didn't know if anyone has seen that before. My apologies if this has already been posted, but I saw it on Hack a Day and thought it was neat. Anyone have any experience with these types of lasers?

I think I read a while ago they had a peak of ~kilowatts for a few nano seconds. Probably wrong though.

My first DIY laser was a TEA laser. Don't sign it off as too complicated, it was a blast to build! Only parts I bought were the two rails to make the lasing channel. Rest of the stuff I already had. Fun stuff. Dangerous and loud, but very cool.

You can check out many videos on youtube about how to build them, and what the final product looks like.

T.E.A. lasers are open air nitrogen lasers used for pumping dye lasers, so in a way they are really both. They can do nano-second pulses of enourmous power but most T.E.A. laser that operate continually (although they really opperate on hundreds of short bursts per second and only appear to be continuous to the human eye), end up equalling about20-50mw in continuos operation Although obviously some are more or less powerfull than that
I hope my information has helped, sorry it's on a thread that's about three months old but I believe no matter how old the thread if the information is still valid then I should tell people.:D
