DIY fog machine & fog soultion

Hey LPF, I've seen a few recent posts of people asking how to get good pictures of your lasers using a camera phone or if you just have a cheapo camera which is no big deal if you have the right equipment. I did a quick search of this on here and couldn't find anything, so I do apologize if there is one on here already. I will be making one of these today and honestly I couldn't believe how much of this stuff needed is just laying around the house! And there is no need to buy fog solution when you can make it for half the cost and it actually works better.
So for now until I make one of these tonight I will just post a few of the videos I found on the tube.. hope this helps guys..

I tried making my own fog a few years ago. The only source of glycerin I could find were glycerin suppositories :toilet:

Most of these are pretty horrible ideas, to be honest.

#1: materials cost well over what a used machine does. If you've already got the parts, fine, but it's still a heavy, crappy, low-output device.

#2: requires dry ice. Many people don't have access to it. Dry ice fog stays on the ground - not good for laser photography. The ice will end up costing more than used fogger anyway

#3: costs the same or more than fog fluid, per unit volume

#4: Output is so low, it's useless. This statement pretty clearly shows they have no idea what they're talking about:
"You can shine a light on it to fully measure what it's mass is"

#5: Maybe. If you want to photograph your laser in the kitchen. This method tends to burn, rather than atomize the fluid. It works, but it's not ideal for your lungs or house.

I recommend getting a used fogger and using purpose-mixed fluid. Any money you save by DIY-ing things here means a vastly inferior result. If you're fine with inferior results, I'd suggest the pan in the kitchen, or just incense. But if you can afford to be in the laser hobby, you can afford a proper $30 fog setup.

I have an American dj fog machine now and I'd rather just use the distilled water and gylc on the stove than the 30$ bottle of fog juice and it honestly does a better job.
