nice! i see you using TEC there hehe

nice build!

Unfortunately it wont be there for long.. Im trying this same setup
without to see how it goes.

If no TEC doesn't work out well, then the TEC will be applied to the
808nm LD as well..

Certainly not an overnight project

Very cool, looking forward to the 589 :)

I am as well, as well as not

I haven't 'tried' yet, but it will be far more difficult. I have only
played with the 589 set I have, and it will be no easy feat..

532= easy
473= not too bad
589= I will not go quietly.. :eg:

Greetings,,

Anything to do something different..

Also, I could not justify paying for something like a 473 handheld
when ive got all the parts right here :san:

Yeah that's true but not all the people have the tools for this kind of innovative epicness :p You dropped jaws with a dual LD build, now this, Tomorrow a perfected version of this, then a 589nM.

All i can say is keep up the good work! love reading your threads :shhh:

Whelp, if my DPSS lasers ever crap out on me I'm shooting you a PM ;)
looking forward to the 589 as well, though something makes me think the optics were exposed to O2 and are no longer suitable for everything.... I'll have to look it up quick.

Edit: appears I was wrong.

Also, if you accomplish or give up with the 589, you should try some of the "exotic" wavelengths on my chart (in sig)! Yellow highlighted ones should be more "easy" to produce.

I have a few builds to complete including 685nm, 671.5nm, and the only DPSS I have
on hand will be the 473's and possibly 589's.

The parts I have for the 589's came from 2 cni pens, one that had just stopped working, and the
other had already been opened up, and some of the optics scratched.. I hope to at least
get a single working 589 out of the 2. I will start with the damaged pieces, and get my
trial and error over with on that set.

I'm not aware of 671.5nm, (assuming it's DPSS) don't you mean just 671nm? ;)
And if you haven't seen the 685nm by some odd chance, you'll probably like it. It's a more "pure" red than 650nm to me, spot and all looks red and not orange-ish

My bad, had to pull the datasheet on the diode.. Its a Coherent diode 673.1nm used
for pumping... Its a long life rated 500mW cmount diode, mounted in those monster
t-03 with TEC.

The emphasis on super long life leads me to believe that it will put out more than
500mW with no problem. Even if the wavelength wanders, im not too worried,
the deeper red will make it more unique.

I got the test data with this diode showing spectrum scan at xx current etc.

Its the S-67-500C-xxx Noted on the second page of this link..

Whoa.. that thing is freaking huge! Chances are if it says ".1" in the specs it won't stray too far from that wavelength or they'd leave it at 673. Now THAT is a project I'd like to see as well... Same goes for a 561nm.

To my understanding its a wavelength used for pumping, though I have not
read much deeper than that. The datasheet gives the temp of the TEC and
all test parameters.. One way to calibrate a DIY LPM as well as spectrometer.

I was actually thinking last night after posting the pics, if one used this to calibrate
their LPM, they would be in line with coherent's factory test equip :san:

The only thing im not sure of, is if the test data relates to the 'pump' module
as a whole with the additional optics, or if its the raw output of the diode..
