What exactly is the diode of a laser?

Does it have to do with anything with the lasers power?

Is a 125mW green laser pointer with a 1 watt diode good or bad?

i didnt want to make a new topic but how do i use an animation as my icon?

Take a few - and read about the relation of the pump diode to the output power - I am attaching a graphic I "borrowed" from another site for my reference - maybe it'll help some.

Start up a new topic in "other" for this - hint (use an animated Gif file)
