diode recommendations cheap but 1W +

Happy New Year,
I bought myself ir and red blocking glasses so stuck in that wavelength.
My goal to burn paint (no no not graffiti create etching masks with little cnc box I'll build)
need about a 1W laser but here's the kicker I need to be able to focus it down to a really tiny dot >0.1mm
also yes cost is a factor this is gonna be an open source project and also I have little money.
and while I have the motors and all the pieces I need for electronics laying around other peeps might not have this and I do want to keep cost down in general. I have an axis module the cheap 650nm one I figure I might have to replace the lens if I go 808nm.
Was going to get these Lot of 2 x 808nm 1000 MW High Power 1 Watt Burning Laser Diode Diodes | eBay but someone said that he bought them and there not performing any better (even worse) than his 250mW one.
you guys got any recommendations. focus-abillity is a factor remember

Well I do doubt you will find a 1w red laser for cheap, and even if you do get one, it will have horrible beam specs. If your looking for power, 445nm is the way to go, you can quite easily get 1.5w+ from those, but if your focused (pun intended) on beam diameter, you might want to pickup a 12x bluray diode, they operate in the 405nm wavelength, and I have heard that they can be focused down much more than other lasers.

I do not know much about IR lasers, what there specs are like etc, but you should be able to find some high power diodes for cheap on ebay, just be careful with them, as the dot is quite dim, but more than enough to give you permanent eye damage. You have goggles for IR, so I suppose that is a good thing.

Good luck!

why the second thread??& WHY the third???
did you post this one in the wrong spot??
http://laserpointerforums.com/f53/will-these-sufficient-experiment-1w-808nm-diode-79333.html

AND WTH is an axis module??
do you mean an AixiZ blank module??

dup threads are a no-no-- you may be wise to ask a mod to close one or the others before the fecal matter hits the occilating blades.

one last bit of advice- PUT YOUR location in your profile- if we dont know whereabouts you live many here will ignore you until you add this

and where is your introduction thread that needs to be in the Welcome section??- be honest as any misinformation you give us will soon be known and from there its all downhill and out the back door.

Ehhh Not a double post actually the original posts are all different topics
One post was about the googles one is asking about optics, which then got hijacked by people in regards to safety.which I tried to steer away from with no avail.
And then I posted here, asking about red and ir diodes and someone is steering me away from this and telling me about blu diodes.
So if you really want to complain to complain to people that reply to my posts with off topic answers.
So please don't haze me, I don't deserve it.
And just curious why is my location so important to you?
I don't mind fixing it, but it's sort of irrelavent, the point of being on the internet is to share with peeps all over the world in a free exchange of ideas, some totalitairian goverments have their own little ideas about this but that honestly just sucks.
My $.02 in direct reply to your post

PS: anyone got some hints for me about what ir diode is decent and still a decent price?

^ I am not "steering you away from red and IR", I am just telling you that there are no red diodes rated for 1w, I then told you the alternatives, namely the bluray diodes. My intention was not to "haze you" at all, I just wanted to help you understand that you cant have a 1w red with good beam specs.

Daawoo,
I was not actually replying to you, and thanks for your info I have seen some red/ir diodes with 1 to 1.5w range the question is of the cheaper ones which one sucks the least, That should be the better question.
Really what I need is more help in my optics thread as well since most of the diodes I have seen of the cheaper variety seem to have a line type beam Which needs probably to be focused multiple times for this to work with successive lenses.
But I am sort of stuck with the red/ir glasses for now so if this project will get off the ground I'm gonna need to find a red/ir diode that will work for my app.

Daawood* And you might want to ditch red diodes and focus more on IR, they offer much higher powers for a much cheaper price. I do not know much about optics myself, so I will not bother helping on that thread. Try searching youtube for 1w IR laser diode, you should come up with a good amount of hits, simply choose one and buy it :)

thanks daawood123,
but if anyone else has some input it's appriciated.

PS: As for Hakzaw1's comment about double posting I'd like to summit as proof a quote of my own post after rob in my optics thread post don't forget proper protection I answered his post like this:
Rob already posted in the safety forum about these I bought yesterday
ebay link
still need help on the actual topic though
Rob any advice?
terramir
Showing that I was trying to keep the individual posts on topic ;)
Because honestly scientifically it makes more sense anyway to attack a problem in different sections methodologically

Well you are 'splitting hairs' if you think these are not basically the same questions- - I just ignore those trying to de-rail my threads and carrry on-
The reason I want your location is so I can drop in on you uninvited and raid your fridge... J/K-- where you live has a lot to do with giving you good advice-I could ask you why you feel it needs to be a secret??
so its cetainly not irrelivate- just the country is enough-
I while back a new memebr also questioned me just like you have .. and guess what- he lives less than 30 min from a trusted Vet- they have become friends & the vet helped him meter his laser collection.

WE like to think of LPF as a friendly forum and its good manners to intro yrself and let us know just a little about you- first names are nice to know- we like to hear about your goals in lasers- maybe a bit about your profession and/or education-and your age is very important- in time you will most likely agree with me.

Its not too late to make a good first impression- it took me many months to make mine and it did get me lots of welcomes and good links to the stickies-tutorials and much more- it cant hurt to be friendly here.
good luck with your project--hak

ya, already updated my location was never a secret, just didn't get around to it.
kinda jumped the gun on this project in some ways because I bought those safety glasses, so I'm kinda stuck with ir laser diodes now there seems to be alot of diodes out there that promise 1W but don't deliver that kinda power. I need to find out who knows a seller that is cheap in price but delivers diodes that actually deliver the advertized spec.
Watched some vids on youtube now and it seems like many peeps have commented that all of em seem under spec.
So Just need to find out if someone knows a seller that sell a diode that actually delivers the 1-maybe even 2w of power and still is relatively cheap, and focusable. too much divergance as I understand and you can forget about it.

round 300 to 500 mW of 405 would be the best idea- very tiny dot is easy to achieve and that wavelength burns afaik better than IR.. AixiZ selles a good glass lens for 400 to 450 nm and it will not melt like a cheap acrylic- a 10X or 12X 405 diode would do the trick- needs good heatsinking of course and the correct driver- I will PM you some other options- gotta go watch "Big Bang" rite now- lasers in almost all episodes--ha ha
