Did I screw my driver??

I got my circuit board thingy from radio shack as well. I used like 10 of the holes, then sawed off and cut off the rest with a saw and a wire cutter. I have a preety small thing now. I could probably fit it in a flashlight. Although the only problem is that my LM chip and my Capacitor are standing way too high giving me limitations, more lmitation from LM than capacitor. I bought a project enclusure from RadioShack also (omg I feel like my whole life is radio shack oriented now) and it fits well. Just use an exacto knife, or a very hot screwdriver, or a soldering Iron that you dont care about, or a very powerful laser to cut out holes for the switch and the aixiz module.

PS: dont buy radioshack on sale 4 pack AAA's, I bought the special (4x 4packs for 10 bucks) and hlaf of them blew, Bad batteries, I was refunded.

Were they alkaline batteries? Usually RS has good batteries so I am surprised they blew.. :o

Agreed with Gazoo. I usually find the dollar store batteries blowing up. I've even had Duracells go splort on me if they were extremely old. The RS batteries may cost more (most of the time) but they do the job no problems. I'm thinking you ended up with an old, expired pack.

yea I know, I was preety pissed, nice packs of 4 alkaline normal AAA bateries, usually good ones, not my forst time, but these ones just blew for some reason, no circuit problems, no installing problems, just bad batteries. :exclamation :exclamation

LOL cool smileis:

BTW, my dad is bringing home packs of industrial AA's, they come in prewired little battery holders that hold like 7 at a time, and its cool, you can adjust it so your only using 2, or 4, or 6, or 7 at a time, very cool. Plus they give out EXACTLY what you want, 6 V is 6V, unlike retail batteries where u get 5.5 etc. Then again the voltage could mean a babies life (my dad uses them at work), so I guess thats why.

Really hard to find a good flashlight to mod where I am
For now I am using a Tasco 1watt lux as a host 3xAAA (1000 mAh duracell NiMh)
It seems to have a fair driver built in
I did add a cap just in case
I have a few 16x and 18x non working dvd burners (drive motors shot) so I have a few spare LD I can play with
I know its a sin here to fry LD's by not protecting them but I will learn as I go
For now its more of a Can i make one work not can i make one work for a long time
I have a nice host flashlight on order from DX and a few plans for a nice heat sink
But until they arive ill tinker with what I have

For my first attempt I made a <5 mw from an old laser level heh
It has a nice beam very focused
Can see the dot on a white wall in full daylight at 50+feet
