I finally got my safety glasses from Dragon Lasers. They practically filter out the red completely, to the point where I can't see the dot. I had to take off the glasses to see if the laser was working! I tried messing with the focus until I could finally see it. Its very interesting that the laser is not actually focused real well when the beam is the narrowest (smallest red dot) with the glasses off. When I was using the glasses and playing with the focus, I was able to focus the laser to a pin point and burn dark colored objects. I took off the safety glasses and the beam seemed pretty wide. Is this because the lens has a limited "depth of field" (in camera terms)? Would that mean that the beam is narrowest (without the safety glasses) at the hyperfocal distance?
I was also wondering if the safety glasses from Dragon Lasers are any good. I had a bit of a head ache after messing with the laser for a bit. Is the laser emitting any IR or something that the glasses don't filter?
Thanks for any help you guys can give me.
