I bought a ~500mw 445nm built into a 4171 flashlight host, built by Dave(daguin). I modded the tailcap to accept an 18650 battery a few weeks ago, and I'm sure it was putting out ~750mw and probably more, using Jayrob's 405-G1 lens. Very very bright and I have been very happy with Dave's build quality. Kudos!

Are you going to update this thread or is this your review?

^ Is there something about the build that you want more info on? The pointer is working very well after my mod, and was working well at ~500mw. It has the standard aluminum heat sink, which is large in a 4171 flashlight host and dissipates the heat very well. I use duty cycles of about 30 seconds on and approx. 3 minutes off. I want to minimize degradation of the LD over the long term.
