Hey guys, Just wanted to see what everyone thought about my custom 500mW 532 laser from Eudaimonium.

I'd like to say that the threads on this thing are the smoothest threads I've ever seen on a laser by far. The threads are about as smooth as the threads we make for the military where I used to work.

This laser was made to fit around a 500mW green lasever module that Jayrob used to sell. The host was designed for unlimited duty cycles. Jay asked me to post a review but the host took a bit more time than expected. No worries there as you can't rush quality work.

The lens came loose and is not the same size as an aixiz module. So Eudaimonium had to make a lens holder for it.

It's also really heavy and I'm sure it would double as a blunt weapon if ever necessary!

I'm thinking of painting it Olive green and stenciling on yellow lettering kind of like old WWII Military weapons and vehicles used to be. (Let me know if you think this would be a good idea)

I'm not a big fan of going backwards in tech so no point in painting it WW2 style I think. :D

Anyway, Jeff here, being a good guy like always, didn't give the whole story.

Yes, the host took 1 year to make - not all of that time justified. I stretched it out waaaay more than I should. Jeff was way too kind to type out a "Hurry it up, you lazy-a$$" Skype message so it kind of just sat there. The design is somewhat complicated and new, but once I did actually sit down and started it, it was done in 2 hours. Total machining time is maybe 1 week.

There we go... just wanted to get my honesty fix for today.

Other than that, I played around with the laser only for a little while before shipping it to you, I have a lot of photos taken at night time. Want me to post them, or send them to you?

Feel free to post them here for others to see. This is the multimedia section after all ;)

This laser looks like it means some serious 532nm business, I also wanted one of those lasever modules they are pretty good quality and for this build I can say it's very unique and Eud's high quality work definitely justifies the overall build. I think this build definitely makes it to the high league like jayrob's lazeerer & rhd's builds.

Doing the paint job would decrease the resale value, but if it would make you happy and you plan on
keeping it, then by all means, go ahead and

To be honest, I don't like it too much. It's too bare for my taste. If it was stainless steel then it'd be a different story. But that's just me.

Strange how people differ.

I much prefer the plain hosts. That's a thing of beauty.

To be honest, it being plain wasn't an aesthetics choice, but a functionality one.

I wanted to preserve as much mass as I possibly could. Cutting in fins makes little sense since I doubt any sort of forced air cooling will take place. Having an extreme mass to soak up heat seemed far better choice.

Oh and, thanks :)

Edit:
Pics done uploading!

Its not that I dislike plain hosts but this one I don't like very much. But still good job on the machining Eud.

Hey thanks man.

Arrrgh, it looks like Photobucket doesn't allow any sort of linking original size images anymore.

Well if you wanna view any of those images in 1500x800, just download them from the Bucket album.

If I knew I'd left them in original 4000x2250, wouldn't go through the trouble of resizing them.

Thanks everyone for the comments! Maybe a mirror polish and clear coat is due then. What do you all think about that? Im kinda liking the machined look though. Hmm, decisions decisions. I want to anodize it but it is such a nice host I'd be afraid it would go wrong and I would be out an epic host. At least paint won't ruin the laser.

Yeah but it could wear off quickly...

I'd go with polish and clear coat. Gives the best "wow" effect and looks like alien tech.
