Current draw test ~ DX True 5mw RESULTS

Just tested how much the 5mw eats when using it.

260 ma

Anyone else test a higher power DX? What was the result?

I've measured DX20 and DX30s, typical currents are in the range of 280 mA, i've found the optimum to be 300 ma when driving the diode directly in a DX30.

I'm guessing they all use the same pump diode, but the higher powered ones just have more efficient crystal assemblies.

Thats pretty interesting! I thought a high power one would suck the battery up really quick.

I built a nifty DDL driver yesterday and I put it inside a small RadioShack Project enclosure. Really useful. I was running my DX 5mw with it and a number of other things off a 9.6 volt battery pack.

I'll put pictures up soon.
