damn it, i just got a call from a local school, and they want me to do lighting, but they said no fog machines or strobes! i have the laser scanner, and without fog, and unless they can do animations, are useless. i do have a moonflower scanner, blacklight and a intimidator coming, so hopefully the intimi will get here before then, so atleast i have something for patterns and such. well i can sorta see the lasers beams without fog in a dark room, but not really well. i dunno why i can't use the fog machine, i can understand the strobe, but seriously, a fog machine!! anyway anyone have any ideas as to how i could "secretly" get some fog in? i was thinking like a big storage container, and putting the fog machine in there and taking the lid off everynow and then?? i know it's not right, but what am i gonna do for the moment?? oh and there is another dj going to be there, so hopefully he will have something too, apart from one of those little spinning mushroom lights. Well actually another thing that annoys me about it, is that they did a production, and it used a fog machine, and had big huge pufs of fog, and the kids were sticking their faces in it and they were fine! what makes this any different! even if i had a hazer, they would still class it as fog right? anyone have any good excuses i could use? IMO a disco is complete crap without beams/fog!
thanks

I would say, ask them if a hazer would be okay.....they may be concerned about someone tripping in heavy fog - or asthmatics, or something like that....

the fog in a tin sounds cool! although to fill a large hall like this would take a few cans i would think? and i could ask if hazers are allright, and if they are, i will just make one with my fog machine, as hazers cost alot more, and this is in november!

The fog in the can smells 10times worse than a fog machine and would definately be worse for Asthma if thats why they are not allowing fog machines..... I am going off the Fog in the cans from maplins though so not sure if Nova would be any different.

They are great for quick beam shots inside a small room or for alligning but anything after that you need a decent fogger....

well i have a fogger, it's just that they said i can't use it, along with the strobe. i can understand the strobe part, but really not many, if any people get affected by fog! have you ever been to a disco/party with lighting that doesn't have fog?? It's a disco, so the kids would probably be expecting fog anyway! I am just going to find a quick document about fog machines and safety, and take it, and everything else, including the fog machine on the night. I am hoping to get this new light by that time aswell, so atleast if i can use fog, i have some variety.

Best of luck to you getting to use it. I'm sure that if you even showed them a demonstration on the difference of quality between no fog and fogged performances they would realize how much better it is. ::)
