Coca Cola blocks 405 just like goggles...

I couldn't get a satisfactory picture of this, but Coke blocks 405nm light just like goggles. All you can get through it is that slight yellow glow that everyone talks about. It was so incredibly faint coming through the coke that I accidentally got it right in the eye, but in doing that all that really happened is that I could actually see they yellow dot on the bottom of the glass. The 405nm light doesn't penetrate the coke at ALL.

Try it, it's pretty interesting!

Hmm, I should make goggles filled with coke... (if this is true, and confirmed with a LPM)

thats prety sik, would it block the 405nm if the coke was only 1mm think....

There was only about a quarter of an inch of coke in the glass. Violet lasers don't have IR though, unless you have one of those fancy BIBO doubled 808 pumper lasers.... ::) LOL

Well, what goggles can you make since you can't see through coke either because it blocks most of the visible light too? :D Might as well use a metal plate.

And as far as IR goes, it actually passes IR, even 808nm NIR.So don't do what you did with a strong DPSS laser if you're not sure about the IR filter.Coke is good to test IR from a green laser. :D If you look at a coke glass in an IR photo, you will see it's clear. :P

Cola doesn't block IR, it only blocks visible light, you can use it to test for IR from DPSS laser ;)

If you had Coke-Filled goggles that blocked 405nm light, wouldn't it be pointless since you wouldn't be able to see anything anyway? :-?

They wouldn't need to be very thick. My 405 couldn't penetrate even 1/4 of an inch of Coke.

heh heh heh I said penetrate

Coke gogles may be good BUT beer goggles are the BEST! They block everything, especially ugly.

Yea , I already pointed that...

...and that out.  ;D

Peter Griffin moment!  :D

Using coke, I found out that my laser mouse is more powerfull than the IR my DX30 leaks. My laser mouse's beam is also nicely collimated, I didn't know that. It's like an USB IR pointer. :D
