CNI can satisfy your 543 DPSS portable needs!

The module isn't a GLP for the 622nm guys. It's a PGL-H-V module, kind of like the PGL-III-C modules. :)

Im all for a GB seriously, this could be a chance to get cool wavelengths at affordable prices!

You lost me there --are you talking about one of these modules--like PGL-H but in unlisted wavelengths that are special make up special order items? http://www.cnilaser.com/Laser-Module.htm

Modules and lab lasers don't need to go via Canada--right --only <5mW hand helds?

What do you consider an affordable price is given a 5mW 622nm module has to be built into a host to be a complete hand held laser?
$780 + shipping so far just for the module w. driver I assume.

Thought you were talking GLP hand helds which they will ship to Canada because you said hand held and Canada in same post.
"Okay, just though I'd let you know! Also, if anyone wants to do another CNI G.B, it's possible. All handhelds will need to go via Canada however. Edited my post to be just about the hand helds to Canada part.
-Alex "

Is confusing--do you mean a CNI GB for everything they make/sell and will ship to North America--either USA or Canada (hand helds only to to Canada and limited to the 5mW legal limit for individuals)?

Well no modules can go via the USA just fine, like they always were able to. Just the pointers/handheld lasers need to go via Canada. So this module could go straight to the USA, yes.

Regarding the G.B, I was only throwing out a wild thought  It'd depend on what is ordered of course. If anything in a future G.B includes items which CNI can't send to the US, then it'd have to go through Canada. If it's all modules or lab lasers, it'd come straight to the US!

OK think I got it now --so 2 GBs one via someone willing to host a GB in Canada and assume all the risks associated perhaps, CNI shippng to Canada handhelds <5mW and another USA GB for everything excluding hand helds of any output for USA.

Either one would require time,effort/work and we have no idea of what if any savings might be had by doing a CNI GB yet?
Any GB discount would have to make business sense to CNI for them to do--all daydreams about lasers and GBs aside.

Maybe CNI would be willing. Keep in mind they do have existing distributors in the USA and they would have to undercut their distributors prices for the GB to have any meaning or advantage over ordering from an exiting Distributor.
Not sure they would want to risk competing with, undercutting, and potentially angering their Distributors for the kind of small order LPF could come up with--same in Canada really. If you are going to sell cheaper than your Distributors which a manufacturer can always do, why would would distributors want to invest any time or money in your products or stocking them and making a market/offering them?

I guess it would come down to/depends upon the particular item in question--if the distributors sell none of/do not sell something LPF people want then it might fly. CNI has 3 distributors in USA and 2 in Canada
They might do for <5mW hand helds like GLPs to Canada especially odd/special order wavelengths not generally marketed/offered except upon request--who knows?

Maybe ask CNI what the minimum dollar value of products ordered would have be for them to support a GBs or GBs--if they will even do it on that basis? If not on that basis on a quantity of a single item basis if it presented no conflict with existing Distributors they might like better?

Yes. There's still a ton of other factors that need to be considered, like in case of seizure of lasers, refunds to members who wish to drop out etc...

Maybe someone can start a thread for interested members? Once we have a solid list we can focus on a single wavelength, like 671 or 561 and settle on a price with CNI. Probably be much simpler then tons of different lasers :yh:

Maybe--takes a lot of work even to do a GB Feeler that is about something that can happen in reality.
Has to be based upon something real and all the factors/considerations not just I wish some CNI product was more affordable and would offer a discount of X%.

Nothing is easy or simple except in imagination where everything is possible and nothing involves money or risk or the real mechanics of doing in the real world---real world is very very different.
How many hours of hard work and doing is anyone going to put in to save only a couple of dollars? A $1000 or two worth of time ,effort, and work to establish a new current direct connection with CNI, run and administer a GB to save what?
On the Buyers end how much of a saving would a GB have to save to make a difference enough to take the chance and participate/send money?
