Choose a 405nm 120-200mW laser module?

I need help from you laser pros!

Im developing a SLA 3D Laser printer, to cure the resin i need a 405nm laser module(im controlling it with a microcontroller so i need the leads) with a output-power in the range of 120-200mW. I cant buy a cheap "chinese 200mW laser" that gives me 20mW or something, so i need your help with finding one with reliable output power, its jungle for me. DIY with soldering is no problem, and a lens for adjustable focus would be great!

I dont know what they will cost but as cheap as possible for resonable quality.

I have got a photo of one used in another printer, you might recognice it? 405nm 120mW is the spec.

It has got 4leads going into it, any idea of why its not just 2?

I know i need goggles ;)

Hey that's interesting! What's that, a custom made holder for a DMD unit?
 
DMD unit?

Its a holder for a laser and 2 galvanometers inside a 3D SLA printer =)
 
Ah, so you're using galvanometric mirrors. Digital Micromirror Devices SLAs use the chip inside DLP (Digital Light Processing) projector to do the same.
 
Okey, i know about DPL projectors but DMD was new to me =)

I live in Sweden and prefer to buy from Europe, i found this guy selling PHR-805 with casing, lens and TTL driver and mount:

If i underpower it i can get all the power i need, but how big heatsinks do i need to cool say 250-300mW?

I got 4 phr modules for $25 shipped. But I don't know if it can reach 200mW. Its a maybe.

You can have more than 300mW with aixiz plastic lens with a sf-aw210 (try ebay). Its the 6x burner diode. @ 200mW it will be more than safe imo..
 
Great! Im new to lasers so the name of a diode helps alot! It semes to be okey for up to 250mW. Do you know any other diodes that would work?
 
I'm not used to 405nm... I can't really help with that. You can try doing some research using the drive burn speed (6x 10x 12x etc) to find something cool.

if you find an SLED it will be cheaper, but you will need to extract the diode, or have someone do it for you.

Maybe a member could have an 6x and sell for you. Dunno. But I can't be of any help because shipping from here would cost >$50 to anywhere :D

BTW, where did you find a galvo array? I'm not quite sure how these are operated with a PC.

Drivers are not impossible to make by yourself, but you should alway use a test load. Check OdicForce on how to make one. Remember that optics are as important as the laser, and often more expensive.

I bought a pair of 20kpps galvos from ebay and im controlling them with some high resolution DACs and a microcontroller. Its not as simple as plug and play unfortunatly.

More like a free sample. This stuff isn't cheap, and I need to check if it's going to serve my purpose. So far I've been ignored, but I expected that. Meh.

Nothing's ever simple, is it? Problem with galvos is, we don't need the laser to be fast, just precise. Have you considered piezoelectric mirrors? Or maybe dielectric actuators?

You need to use ONLY the module lens (focusing ones) or you can have more lens after that?

I can't really say but, if you use single-mode diodes you'll have more chance to achieve that with only the focus lens... otherwise you could have a rectangle instead of a circular, and small spot size.

Yea, i only need a little to confirm that its working as expected before i place an order.. Tell me if you get lucky and find a source for a sample =)

There are three prameters, i need them to be fast, accurate and cheap. I think that galvos hit all of them quite well actually. I have never heard of those but i will take a look, sounds exotic ;)

Well, im not limited in space, all be fixed on a plate so there is room for another lens in front of the laser. Whats a "single-mode diode"?
