I discovered that a cheap pair of shooting/safety glasses block 405nm quite well!

Be advised, these are not made for use with lasers and any damage to your eyes by following this advice is solely your fault. YMMV :D

Nothing changed in this pic except the glasses were placed in front of the camera lens.

How many of us with BR pointers have goggles designed for 405nm? I bet the number is VERY low. As for myself I will be using these with my BR. ;)

I can view the dot just I can when using a 650nm and my WL goggles. I would bet that if tested, these would provide sufficient protection.

But can the dye hold up against a reflected/direct blast? I'd rather pay the extra $$ to buy some goggles from OEM.

Not tested/intended for= Not worth it in my book.

I'd say better than nothing if it makes the dot dimmer. Who cares about direct reflections if the only alternative is to not use anything at all.
I found that my pair of welding goggles block UV light completely and 405nm well enough to see a very dim dot.

I am using pretty much the same thing. I noticed it completely blocks 405nm, and when i tried to measure my 76mW Blu Ray through the glasses, i couldn't. There was a faint dot on the meter, but it didn't react.

Even a direct hit would be like a <1mW laser through these glasses, and they completely take care of the glare when focusing at something up close.
