I'm look for cheap oddballs out there. There's already 685's for $10 for 3, and 780's for under $10, and perhaps cheap 473's (oddball for me simply due to the pricetag.) What others are out there for under $100 a diode/DPSS? I just want to have cool colors that aren't used much, even if it's only 2-5mW and TEM01. Any ideas anyone?

There's 670nm range diodes.

I've seen and thought about it. But with 650, 660, and 685, 670 would seem pointless. Although I'll eventually get it just because it's out there, but for now I'd pick a bluer or more orange color over just another deep red. Thank you though!

What are you going to do with your lasers when you go in for training?

And if you are caught with them will it fall under military jurisdiction?

Just curious as i've thought about joining the armed forces.

Well I'm packing all my things before I leave, and labeling the boxes. Then when I want say my card collection (60+ decks) I'll ask for the box labeled cards. Same with lasers, or my teas (I need to have my tea.) However, with lasers in specifics, I won't be a goofball with them. Bring them to tech school would be just that. And I guess I might have to stick with FDA regulation meeting devices, or have all other lasers locked away. When they do dorm inspections to make sure you're tidy, if it's locked, they can't check for tidiness. They only ding you on things they can get to. So there are things I can do, not being foolish is one of them.

And I say if you want to, go all out man. I'm not even an E1 yet and I'm loving it. Just the DEP alone is a brotherhood. We've all got each-other's backs, any of us would help out the other, and I'm eventually going spec ops so it's only going to get better. Although if it's something you want to do, you gotta go balls deep if you get the expression. It's not something you half-ass (pardon the language, it was used for lack of a better phrase.)

So where are you going to lock up the 80W CO2 Laser? ;)

A 473 is a very pleasing wavelength - inbetween a 445 diode and a 488nm argon. I like mine. It was $50 + post from ebay. It has terrible divergance, but I can fix that with some lenses. (its a lab module, not a pointer tho)

Oh God.....don't even bring up CO2....I'd kill for a decent 80W system, but it'll have to wait. Not even sure if I'll be able to get any more HeNe's or an argon (my dream laser)

once I get my bulk 589nm pointers I'll pull out the good ones and sell those cheap. Dunno what I'll do with the crap ones yet. Maybe sell em around school if the IR output isnt bad.

You're really going for that alibaba sale? Haha, good luck mate!

Yeah, if their price on the page is the right one I'm going for it. I'm also going to get an LPM so I can sell them for "correct" power output. I'm just hoping to god theyre not all bad.

I would love to have a low powered 473 and 589 "pointer" around 5-10mw or so, not necrssarily pen style, but maybe a custom host with tail clicky. Can't afford it right now though.
